A child has many fantasies. Through the growing years a child sees lots of ideas to grow big and become. There are unlimited possibilities to their thinking. They are yet to begin to reason logically and organise thoughts and deal with professional ideas.
A boy played an instrument and wished to be a “Musician” one day. Another attended drama lessons and acted all day as a “Star”. A girl loved her teacher at school and posed as one in her role play. Another wanted to be a “Mom”. Playing cricket with his friends in the open plot inspired a child to be the next cricketer. While playing in the garden a child dreams of owning her own plant nursery one day. Another went on a trek with the family and wished to become a “Mountaineer”.
When children think about their future, they don’t do it as adults. They can’t visualise the hard work and commitment to achieve the goal. They can’t see any obstacles or expenses or time required. Each profession needs certain abilities and capabilities, the child is unaware of those. Its only their innocent optimism and big thinking that leads them to such dramatic and magical conclusion.
When your child dreams big and shares it with you, don’t discourage or laugh. Instead impart a lesson that dreams will only be achieved through HARD WORK, STUDY and DEDICATION.
